Areas of intervention

David Desforges provides advice and litigation in environmental law, public and administrative law, as well as mining and quarrying law. It supports its customers, manufacturers and companies, in the management of environmental regulations and complex administrative procedures related to classified installations, polluted sites and soils, waste management, as well as renewable energies.

He has extensive expertise in product regulation and environmental communication, particularly in the area of environmental claims and the fight against greenwashing. He also works on issues related to climate change, greenhouse gas emission quotas and extra-financial corporate obligations (ESG, CSRD).

In public and administrative law, David Desforges assists his clients on issues relating to public ownership, liability of public authorities, compensation litigation and the control of foreign investments. He is also involved in public subsidy regimes and the regulations applicable to administrative decisions.

He is also recognized for his expertise in mining and quarrying law, in particular in terms of operating permits, authorizations for mining works, the management of post-closure obligations and financial guarantees.

Professional background

David Desforges has been working as an independent lawyer since 2015 and works as a Counsel Lawyer at Almain AARPI.

He previously held the position of partner at Genesis Avocats, where he was in charge of the Industrial Environment department. Before that, he was Of Counsel in the Environment team at Jones Day, after having worked for more than fifteen years at Gide Loyrette Nouel, where he was successively an associate, a lawyer, then a partner in charge of the Environment activity.

Before devoting himself fully to the bar, he began his career as a press officer at the Consulate General of France in Chicago.

Formation

David Desforges has held the Certificate of Aptitude for the Profession of Lawyer since 1999 and was sworn in in 2000.

He is a graduate of the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas (DEA in public economic law, honors), the Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago (Master of Laws - LLM) and the DePaul University Graduate School of Public Services in Chicago (Certificate Degree - Foundations in Public Services Management) in Chicago (Certificate Degree - Foundations in Public Services Management).

He is also a former student of the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris (Public Service section, Laureate mention).
